Qn 1) It is better to be safe and not take risks. How far is this true?
Taking risks means that the person should not worry about his/her safety. This also includes the fact that the person could even die if he is taking a risks. Many who want thrill and excitement in their lives are taking risks. They most likely do not fear for their lives.

Many do prefer to be safe than to take risks. These people are those who are afraid of their lives. They rather stay safe than to take risks. By not taking risks these people play safe. Majority feels better to be safe. However there are still minorities who do take risks. Many do activities such as diving and bunji jumping for the fun they get and do not worry about their lives.

Qn 2) It is foolish to look for excitement in dangerous activities. Do you agree?

Dangerous activities are not safe to do. However at times certain dangerous activities could bring the fun and excitement that the person expects. For example, bunji jumping could be dangerous, but many feel the thrill in this activity. They rely totally on the rope and risk their lives to jump off the cliff. The probability for the rope to break off is low, but yet it’s not zero. There is still chance for it to break. This may be the dangerous part of the activity that the people should worry about.

It is also not right to expect excitement from dangerous activities. Life comes before excitement. By going after excitement there may be chances for the person to lose his/her life. This factor is very important to be concerned about.

Qn3) Women in society. What are their roles these days?

In the past, women were considered as housewives who do not have a word to be said in the family. They were not given the opportunity to study nor work. This leads them to be uneducated and jobless, thus have to rely on their husband to live. They stayed at home cooking and taking care of their children.

However, things these days are changing. Women have been given equal rights just like men, to do things. They are allowed to study and moreover given the chance to make their own future. They are not forced to get married and settle down with a family that fast.

Qn4) Qualities that you would look for in a friend.

A friend is someone who aids the person with help when he/she needs it. Many imagine their friends to be the best person in their life. Some even treat their friends better than their parents. However the true meaning of friends is that he/she must be always there when you are in a problem. Not only that, they must be trust worthy to keep secrets. Friends are always the best listening ear for secrets to be told.

On the whole a friend should be the person you can totally believe in. That friend should make you feel that you are special to him/her.

Qn5) Advancement in medical knowledge. Boon or bane?

Medical is an important factor in a country. It provides the country with health facilities. Every century, new life killing deceases are found. To be able to fight back such illness, medical is needed. By improving in medical, new medicines are found and better ways are created to keep the nation clean and decease free.

Advancement in medical is definitely blessing as many lives could be saved every time. Not only that, by knowing the new medicines, it is faster for patients to be cured. Moreover, the nation’s hospital facilities would also improve through this.

Qns6) Would the world have been a safer and cleaner place without science?

The world would not have improved this far without science. Singapore would not have grown without science. It would not have gotten the chance to create “NeWater” without science.

Science always has its own path. It’s not the fact of safe or clean it is. It’s about how to use science. For example, during various science experiments, procedures are given, but when those procedures are not followed it leads to distraction and explosion. Thus when science is being followed wisely, it is still safer and cleaner.

Qns7) Science has done much harm than good! Do you agree?

Science had brought great achievements to the world. Such achievement is the satellite. Satellite had brought much information of our neighbouring planets.

However not all achievements are good to the world. For example, due to science and technology, we are now enabled to travel around as and when we like, but we are not much aware of the harmful gases produced into the world through this. This could be an example of hoe science is not safe to the world.

My family is an extended family. It is filled with my grandmother, 2 aunts, 2 uncles and my 2 brothers living together under one roof. Most of the time it would be very fun with all together at home. The house would usually be very noisy. It would be very entertained when in the house. We live in a 4-room HDB flat. There is room for everyone in the house. Fortunately my brother and I share a room and we got our own privacy.
Staying in an extended family brings up lots of positive attitudes towards our growth. I get to learn how to share my belongings with the people around me. I learn teamwork from my family. Most importantly, I learnt to care for everyone around me. At times we get to sit together and have our dinner. That time would be the most adventures time. We get to share our thoughts and experience for that day.
Everyone in family have their own way of life. The way food is prepared for everyone is one of the various differences that we carry. We give in to many things. For example, the food prepared everyday would each of our choice each day. It’s that fun to enjoy the favourites of my family. More than this, I also get to clear my doubts with them. Many would call their friends but in my case, I get the chance to ask my family members first before I could ask my friends.

My target for my Preliminary Paper is that I should at least attain B3 for every subject. In this way I can improve my target for O’ levels by each grade for every subject. Currently I am not doing well in Maths. I had taken up tuition for that subject. This could help me get into Polytechnic, as Maths is a compulsory subject for both Polytechnic and Junior College. As this is my final year, I have told myself to perk up on every subject. I have not just started to go for tuition classes, but also divided my time equally for fun and mostly for revision, homework and self study. I hope by doing all this I can do well in my O’ levels.

My expectations are to achieve all my targets and my resolutions. As for my resolutions, I have in both my studies and also in lifestyle. In my studies, I want to become a better person in class. I used be someone who gives up that lesson if a do not understand. But now I want to change it. I have decided that even if I do not understand, I still listen to the rest of the lesson taught by the teacher, and ask him/her my queries after lesson or school. In this way not I do not day dream in class, but also understand the topic. In my lifestyle, I want to be a good friend to my friends, a good student to my teacher and a good member to my family. By these, everyone around me gets the best out from me. Since this is the last year, I am going to be with my teachers and classmates, why not make them happy?

Thus these are my target and expectations for this year!

I spent most of my holiday in band. This was because Metier, our band’s annual performance was held in 23rd November. We spent 1st month practicing for the big day. After the event, most of us went back to clear up the band room for the next year. Metier was the most exciting event that occurred during my holiday. Last year was supposed to be the last year for Metier for the Sec 3s as we were doing O’levels this year. We had alt of fun preparing for Metier. We wanted to give our best as we wanted the concert to be the best. Most exciting was that we performed with different CCAs. Those CCA’s were Indian Dance, ELDDS, Chinese Dance and also the performance by ‘2KG’ and a Sec 1 student’s piano performance. This was the first year there was metier not only showcases band but also other performance. The various rehearsals together were the steps to the success that we had accomplished last year. Many were very proud about the praises that we received from Mrs Menon, Mr Shaw and also the teachers. I really feel very thankful for those who made the concert a wonderful and great event which was very successful.

…was the only week when I am left with doing the homework. I was not free as usual due to band practice and STAR program.

Other then this, something special occurred in that week. It was the IDEAS day. I had a very great experience. Two days before IDEAS day, Ms Tan told me that my group (representing Tamil for InnoWits) had not done anything. She said we should show here the presentation by the next day or taken away. So I did the presentation. The next day I showed her. She said she wanted some pictures of our product. I tried to call my group members together to do the editing, but all were busy. In the end, I did the editing and all the other stuff. This was not that bad. But the bad news was that for presenting, on IDEAS day, no one was there from my group other than ME. The feeling I felt, when Ms Tan ask me where are the other group members, was really bad in my heart. It was suppose to be group presentation but I felt as though it’s a solo performance. You people should know the feeling. To add to my ‘feeling’, 3 members from other group came down to help. I really felt relieve to see such people. End of the day, the presentation was done properly. I felt glad when Ms Tan appreciated us!

That was what started with sadness and ended with happiness, but now is the part of how I finished the other ½ of my homework. As usual you all would have guess- LAST MINUTE WORK!!! But, my last minute was not that bad as I did the left over 6 commentaries, 3 on Saturday and the other 3 on Sunday. End of the day I finished my homework rushing through.

***Note:-MISS CHIN
(Miss Chin, I may had done a last minute work, but even that work was done with my total effort. You can see the hand writing very NEAT!!!) =^-^= ***

!!!SO THAT WAS THE GREAT THINGS HAPPENED IN MY JUNE HOLIDAYS!!!
:)... B-)... (^"^)...HAHAHA!!!

…after that deep sleep, I woke up to see that I was very lazy to do my homework so tried to enjoy the left over three days. As every “kid” be, I ‘slucked’. Soon I did not know the reason to do my homework on time, that I only realised later (to be told later part).

On the third week, even though I did not have any commit program, I still went back to school. I went back to do the preparations for band and other stuffs.

But then, like all would have thought, I slugged, but I did not. I decided to turn into a GOOD girl, so I did the other ¼ of my work. This came up to be ½ of my work done. I was happy.

The next day, which was The 14th of June, was my uncle’s birthday. He was turning 40 so we thought of celebrating it grandly, and we did. We brought him to an Indian restaurant, which was his favorite, to treat him. It was a big surprise to him. Like everyone, he too enjoyed himself.

On the same week we had our family gathering. We decided to meet at the Escape Theme Park. All the “kids”(12 and below) had a lot of fun at the Wild Wild Wet, including me. I was some sought like a babysitter for those kids. I was glad that I did not sun tan that much. Son we all had a lot of fun seeing one another again.

The last week was the only week…

…but the next I was also filled with activities as I had Councilor camp.

It was a 3-day 2-night camp. On the first day, we went to Changi Village for the night walk. The place was filled with lots of cockroaches and lizards. End of the night walk we were very excited even though it was not very scary.

The second day we had a NE walk around from Singapore River to a vegetarian shop where we had our lunch. We started our walk at around 8am. Unfortunately after around 75% of the trip, it started to rain. So we had to rush to the shop to have our lunch. During the trip, we visited to church. It was very quiet. It gave a feel of peace in our hearts and minds. Mr Paul was explaining about the church. The second church that we visited had 3 people praying, so we did stay there, but just walk through. After that, we went to a place where there was both Chinese and Indian temple. We saw people exiting the Chinese temple and entering the Indian temple for prayers. This shows how united Singapore is.

The third and the last day was the best as we went back to Camelot after the Growth camp. ‘Polar’ was there when we went. Everyone was to try 3 high elements. All the 3 elements were new to me, as I did not dare to try during the Growth camp. The 3 elements were the Abseiling, walking on a rope and the last one was walking on a log. It was scary looking down from the top but soon I gained confidence and finished the element.

End of the day it was a great experience to all.

After ½ a week I finally managed to start on my English homework. I did my best but I was very tired to finish all at once, so after doing ¼ of the work I went to a deep sleep…
